Star Wars: The Old Republic is a massive multiplayer online role playing game from LucasArts and BioWare, giving you the chance to be the hero in a Star Wars Epic.
A new challenger
Many have tried and failed to beat World of Warcraft as the world's biggest MMORPG, but the might of the Star Wars franchise could make Star Wars: The Old Republic's rise inevitable. Will it offer a compelling enough story and gameplay to do justice to the name?
Be a Hero of the Republic or Empire
Set over 3000 years before the first movie, Star Wars: The Old Republic tells the story of a time where the Jedi and Sith are at war, alongside their respective Republic and Empire allies. The game promises that players will become a central part of that huge story. You will choose to side with the Jedi or Sith, and there is the usual RPG class system to suite different styles of play and personal development.
Boba Fett or Jar Jar Binks?
From gameplay we have seen, it looks like the gameplay is solid, with stylish graphics reminiscent of the colorful cartoon characters of World of Warcraft. It remains to be seen whether Star Wars: The Old Republic can recapture the magic of the first three movies, or will just be a fantasy mess draped in the lore of the Star Wars universe.
